Belly laceration

This horse was lucky not to completely open its belly when it tried to jump out of its field. It sustained a 60 cm laceration, as shown. We used a Versajet debridement machine to remove as much contamination and soil as possible with the horse under general anaesthesia, before stitching it up. Although a small wound infection developed at the front, the wound has healed excellently.
