Colic surgery Cotts Farm Equine Hospital is now open for the acceptance of equine colic cases requiring surgical treatment. This represents a ‘first’ for South and West Wales. Up until now emergency colic cases have had to be driven to England to receive the life-saving surgery, incurring significant delays, which in some cases has resulted in loss of the horse. These cases can now be treated in Wales without the costly drives and life-threatening delays.
Colic surgery is performed by Richard Coomer, recognised European Specialist in Equine Surgery. Twenty-four hour per day post operative intensive care of the highest standard is provided at Cotts Farm, providing horses and owners with optimal chances of success. Colic cases should always be examined by the client’s regular veterinary surgeon in the first instance. Referral to Cotts Farm for possible surgical treatment can then be arranged if necessary.
