Job Role: Equine Internship Position 2020
We are seeking a graduate for our 12 month equine internship programme, starting July 2020. The clinic is an RCVS-accredited Tier 3 Equine Hospital in South West Wales, the only one of its type in Wales. Situated on the edge of a coastal National Park and area of outstanding natural beauty, the practice provides ambulatory services to Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, south Ceredigion, Swansea and the Vale of Glamorgan. It also provides a referral service for emergency surgery and intensive care, and all elective internal medicine, orthopaedic and surgical cases. Cotts provides veterinary cover for nearby Ffos Las racecourse.
The practice currently employs 13 full time veterinary surgeons including 2 board-certified specialists, one in surgery and one in internal medicine. Interns live on site and work a 1 in 2 out-of-hours rota. We also provide regular in-house training seminars and fund 5 days of external CPD. The aim is that after 12 months our interns are equipped with the skills and experience required to work competently in first line equine practice, or pursue further specialist training. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and close team. Further details about the practice, staff and facilities can to be found on our website.
Application process: For informal enquiries please email for the attention of Evie Fowke, email@example.com Formal applications should include your current CV with recent photograph and letter of intent.
Two references should be supplied and candidates may also provide supplementary letters of recommendation or any other information they feel pertinent. We will then contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time to see practice, during which time you will also be interviewed.

This is a rare opportunity to join our elite Pembrokeshire Ambulatory Team. You will live the breathtaking scenery of 186 miles of coast with the challenge of visiting all 99 beaches. Pembrokeshire has affordable living costs and no traffic jams, and Cotts is 90 minutes to Cardiff Airport and 35 minutes to the M4. We are a holiday resort with a Coastal National park that hosts Ironman Wales, climbing, fishing and a strong National Hunt racing fraternity.
There is also an opportunity to join our expanding Swansea Ambulatory Team, where the scenery of the Gower and Black Mountain is no less beautiful with the added hub-bub of Swansea and faster links to the M4.
Cotts has a transparent incremental remuneration scheme. New graduates would start on £27k, increasing by £1000 each year qualified and £500 for each year at Cotts and £2500 for a certificate and £1000-2500 for a previous internship and a car allowance of £3k plus mileage claims. 5 days CPD with expenses paid and 5 week’s holiday plus bank holidays on a 1 in 4 rota with 2 lieu days per 4-week cycle. Our philosophy is to offer enough flexibility around an 8 hour day to allow everyone to do something to make them happy, and extra income is earned if turnover exceeds overheads, but this is not encouraged if the extra work detracts from happiness.
We have a comprehensive range of up to date equipment, we encourage career development and further qualifications and we are all always learning together as a team.
Apply with a curriculum vitae and a covering letter which includes at least one reference and a potential starting date to firstname.lastname@example.org.
